Categories: People We Have Placed
I hope you are enjoying this wonderful fall weather and are energized to accomplish great things. We have some placed candidates we would like to recognize for the great things they do in the sector, both in their past roles and now with the organizations we have placed them in. They all make the NFP sector proud and we are honoured to have been a part of their career progression.

Doug Jones, Director of Major Gifts and Campaign, True Patriot Love, Calgary
Doug joined True Patriot Love as the director of fundraising for western Canada. He was a member of the Calgary Police Service for 25 years before retiring in 2005.  Doug then moved on and built a career in fundraising with United Way, University of Calgary and Calgary Health Trust. His interest in the military community was evident. Within the not for profit sector, Doug was involved and helped support veteran programs that needed individual and corporate funding in order to move forward and provide critical help with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). With a background in policing, his interest in helping military veterans and their families and experience as a fundraiser with a deep connection to the donor community in Calgary, Doug was a natural hire for True Patriot Love. Doug brings a mature and sophisticated approach to donor cultivation and is respected by those donors he has developed relationships with. There is no doubt that Doug will bring the opportunity for western Canada philanthropists to become more involved in supporting our veterans and their families. Click here to see Doug’s LinkedIn profile.

Alicia Murji, Director of Advancement Operations, Upper Canada College
Alicia joined Upper Canada College as their new Director of Advancement Operations. Upper Canada College was looking for an operations person who could help them improve their data and research capabilities, prior to setting forth in an upcoming campaign. While still young in her career, Alicia proved to be a great fit for the role and her intelligence and drive shone through in all of her interviews. Her experience managing data and research at West Park Healthcare Centre Foundation gave her the foundation she needed to become a valuable member of the advancement services team. And as a member of leadership team, Alicia will drive the strategy to ensure the advancement department has the tools they need to be successful in their roles. Given her natural inclination to improve processes and systems, Alicia is going to be a great asset at UCC. Click here to view Alicia’s LinkedIn profile.

Rick Perciante, Executive Director, Oakville Humane Society, Oakville

Rick joined Oakville Humane Society as the Executive Director, tasked with helping the Society improve processes, change culture and create a stronger organization. Rick was in the process of searching for one last role before retiring, a role working in a different field, closer to the grassroots of an organization. Rick spent many years at the Canadian Cancer Society at the regional, provincial and national levels. His last position was Interim Executive Director of Ontario. When in a conversation about his next move, Rick mentioned his love of animals. It didn’t take us long to connect him to the Oakville opportunity. Rick wanted one last role before retirement, and we had something for him! Rick brings to the role a well-rounded background in both operations and fundraising and has experience helping organizations manage large organizational change. His references described him as an amazing leader of people and someone who inspires growth and development in his staff. Rick has a very big job ahead of him and it seems quite clear, at this point, he is the right person to get the job done.
