PAST EVENT - #MeToo MOVEMENT
While the MeTo Movement seems to revolve around celebrities and high-profile individuals and companies, NFP leaders need to be invited to the conversation. Sector leaders have a unique perspective in the interface between volunteer board, donor, volunteer, staff and clients, each with their own set of vulnerabilities and powers. What do you need to know, and do, to create a safe space for all of those engaged in your organization? What are the unique challenges facing leaders, like yourself, in the not for profit space? How can you mitigate risks and be in front of the discussion?
Join us, in the CEO Community, for a week-long discussion starting Monday December 3rd, 2018.
#METOO MOVEMENT AGENDA
Monday – Creating A Dialogue – What does the #MeToo Movement mean to you as a not for profit leader? Share your experiences, concerns and challenges so we can leverage the power of community to create best practices and strategies that protect your organization from the devastating effects of sexual assault. Let this be the beginning of a discussion that puts all of our members in a more secure place.
Tuesday – #MeToo Movement – SCHEDULED ONLINE DISCUSSION – Media Relations, Lisa Pearson, Principal at Navigator
Lisa Pearson, a Principal at Navigator, and site-subject expert, will join an online conversation in the discussion category Marketing and PR on Tuesday December 4th, 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. eastern time. Lisa will field your questions about how to prepare for and/or respond to an event like #MeToo Movement. What should be in place before? What needs to be communicated during the event? What type of messaging is necessary to preserve your organization’s reputation? Lisa has helped many organizations, both private and not-for-profit, craft strategic communications plans to protect their clients. They have also seen the fall out of poorly managed situations where an organization’s ability to continue functioning is at risk. Let Lisa help you deal with a current situation or be prepared and armed for the future. Given the complexity of the not-for-profit sector and the diverse stakeholder community, the risks of becoming an organization who has to deal with a #MeToo allegation are real. Friday – #MeToo Movement – Legal – WEBINAR – Jennifer Heath, Partner, Piccolo Heath LLP
Jennifer Heath, Partner, Piccolo Heath LLP, will lead a webinar on Friday December 7th from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. eastern time. Jennifer will help you, as a NFP leader, to understand what HR policies and best practices to put in place to prepare and protect your organization from a #MeToo incident. Uber, Google and other employers have been caught flat-footed in the aftermath of #MeToo scandals. NFPs are not immune to such claims and, arguably, are more vulnerable to the poor PR and brand backlash in the aftermath. Areas of discussion include: Basic required policies on harassment, violence and health and safety; better than basic policies in the NFP world; what policies are unnecessary; and best HR practices for the NFP sector. Jennifer is dedicated to improving the health and productivity of her clients’ workplaces. She is well-versed in current employment-related case law and statutes, but is also sensitive to the practical impact of the law on both her employer and employee clients. Over more than ten years of practice, she has worked on many employment law matters for her clients, such as drafting employment and independent contractor agreements and workplace policies. She also provides strategic advice regarding termination, restructuring and disability management issues. Jennifer is a seasoned litigator, and has successfully handled numerous motions, hearings and mediations. Everyone welcome to attend. Please email vesna@searchsmart.ca to confirm your attendance and receive webinar details. Members can confirm here https://ceo.searchsmartconnect.com/events/item/34/8 .
